Kanagawa, Japan, August 16, 2010 － Kenwood Corporation today announced that its KIV-700 Digital Media Receiver has garnered the 2010-2011 European Imaging and Sound Association’s (EISA) European In-Car Head Unit award — one of Europe’s most prestigious prizes for new products in the electronics industry. And this distinction marks the second consecutive year that Kenwood has won this award in the same category.
The awarded KIV-700 is Kenwood’s first In-Dash Digital Media Receiver without a CD mechanism, and it is designed specifically for iPod/iPhone and USB media applications. In spite of its 1-DIN compact size, the KIV-700 not only features a full-colour 3-inch TFT monitor but also provides playback of music and video sources from a number of connected media storage devices such as iPhones and iPods via the supplied iPod Interface Cable, as well as USB memory and USB-enabled digital audio players. Having no CD mechanism included the user interface can be made to operate extremely intuitively for large capacity media libraries, where search systems are the number one priory. iPOD LIKE OPERATION
The grip control knob is similar to that of an iPod, making operation familiar for iPod owners. The high-speed search bar key allows users to scroll up or down through music and video files.
SEARCH FEATURE Simply press the SEARCH MODE key to access a variety of search modes. Direct Search enables searching by entering the first three letters of the playlists, artists, albums, songs, podcasts, genres or composers, then turning the knob right/left to get a list of songs. It is also possible to search using Alphabet Search, Skip Search and Related Search functions. iPod Control by Hands Mode allows the user to control from the iPod itself rather than from the headunit.

Recently unveiled at the MEN trade show Kenwood's fresh new in-car entertainment range had heads turning!
Stars of the range include new one-box multimedia screen receivers *DNX9260BT & *DNX7260BT which have the latest touch and drag icon technology. Spinning album art on iPod/iPhone display screens showed how far ahead Kenwood technology has become. *Available April/May.
Other areas of the range also see large steps forward in technology including a new mechless iPod orientated head-unit *KIV-700 with a 3" high quality LCD screen and click wheel like search system. *Available soon.
With the law on in-car phone communication now very strict Kenwood has 2 Bluetooth hands-free head-unit solutions. The KDC-BT40U with iPod/iPhone direct control CD receiver and the KDC-BT50U which gains Bluetooth music streaming and a much larger 2-line display and an attractive variable colour illumination feature.
